Privacy Policy — Dukaan Khata

Last updated: 30 September 2026

What the app stores

Dukaan Khata stores the shop's ledger on the phone: customer names, phone numbers, localities, amounts given and received, notes and photos the shop adds. This data is entered by the shop and stays on the device.

Google Drive backup

If the shop signs in with its Google account, the app backs up its data to that account's Google Drive. It uses only the drive.file permission, so it can see and change only the files it created itself (the "Dukaan Khata Backup" folder). It cannot read any other file in the Drive.

Every backup is encrypted on the phone with AES-256-GCM before upload, using a recovery key that only the shop's owner holds. Google and the app's developer cannot read the backups.

What the app does not do

Messages and statements

When the shop sends a payment reminder or a statement, the app opens WhatsApp (or another app the shop picks) with the message ready. The shop decides whether to send it. That app's own privacy policy then applies.

Removing data

Uninstalling the app deletes the data on the phone. Backups can be deleted from Google Drive at any time, and the app's access can be removed at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
